The Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit - An Alumni Only Summa Reading Group

Zoom

Join Prof. Eleonore Stump (Saint Louis University) and other TI alumni to discuss the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit as presented by Thomas Aquinas in the Summa Theologiae. The group will meet on Wednesdays between April 3 and April 24 to discuss short readings on the reading group’s theme.

Description:

The gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit mark every Christian in grace. The gifts are piety, fortitude, fear of the Lord, wisdom, understanding, counsel, and knowledge. There are twelve fruits, and the list of them begins with love, joy, and peace. But what are the gifts and the fruits? How are they to be distinguished from moral virtues? How are they acquired? We will study what Aquinas has to say about them in general, and we will look in detail at the individual ones also
