The Holy Trinity - A Summa Reading Group

Zoom

Join Fr. John Baptist Ku, O.P. (Dominican House of Studies) and other students to discuss the Holy Trinity as presented by Thomas Aquinas in the Summa Theologiae. The group will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays between February 5 and March 4 to discuss short readings on the reading group’s theme. There will be no class on February 14.

Description:

In this online seminar, we will read key articles in St. Thomas Aquinas’s Summa Theologiae concerning the Trinity. Because of the demands on students to master numerous and diverse topics, often religious education ends up relegated to second place—leaving even elite academically advanced Christians with a grade school level understanding of God the Trinity. This seminar will attempt to redress such an imbalance by examining: ancient Trinitarian heresies, the processions of divine persons in God according to knowledge and love, the unique power of the concept of “relation,” and the conformation of the baptized to the divine persons in grace.

  • ST I, q. 27, a. 1
